Brief Description:Provides assistance related to the following legal issues: adoption, child custody and parental rights termination, divorce, domestic violence, foreclosures and other real estate matters, guardianship, homesteads, labor law or worker's compensation, name changes, non-profit corporation issues, probate, taxes, and wills. Also provides self-help divorce clinics for simple, uncomplicated cases.

Services:VARN provides pro bono (free) civil legal services for eligible low-income individuals or domestic violence survivors and families. The volunteer attorneys will not charge for their services, but, you are responsible for paying court costs which cannot be waived or any other out-of-pocket expenses for you. The services VARN provides and the legal areas covered include: divorce, domestic violence, adoption,child custody and parental rights termination, guardianship, name changes, wills, probate, foreclosures and other real estate matters, homesteads, labor law or worker's compensation, tax issues, and non-profit corporation issues.
Target Population:Individuals and families with low income and domestic violence survivors in Nevada's rural communities.

Eligibility:VARN provides pro bono (free) civil legal services for eligible low-income individuals or domestic violence survivors and families. Please contact office for details about eligibility requirements.
Appointment Needed:Yes-- To apply for services from the Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans (VARN) pro bono program, you must contact the VARN office. You will be screened to determine if you are eligible for the VARN program. If you are eligible, you will be scheduled for an in-person or telephone appointment to meet with the VARN staff who will discuss your legal problem with you. If it appears you have a case, and it falls into one of VARN's areas of service, VARN will attempt to refer your case to a volunteer attorney.
